What categories of subjects/courses are available for study in the senior secondary school credentialling program in each State or Territory?

Students are assessed against standards, not the paths they have followed in achieving those standards. Thus, there are no prescribed national courses that must be followed to achieve the NCEA qualifications, so schools may choose to run shorter courses, combine subjects and combine levels. Both achievement and unit standards can be accessed by subject at http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/ncea/ach/index.shtml, while unit standards are listed on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) website http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/framework/explore/index.do.
