Board of Studies Liaison Officers (BOSLOs)

Board of Studies Liaison Officers (BOSLOs) are highly experienced teachers who are seconded by the Office of the Board of Studies to provide advice and assistance to schools and the community on matters relating to Board of Studies policies and programs. There are nine BOSLO officers located across the state. Three are situated in metropolitan Sydney and six are based in regional centres.

Metropolitan BOSLOs

Margot Braithwaite

Margot was previously Head Teacher, English at Springwood High School. She has been a Supervisor of Marking and Chief Examiner in School Certificate English and has taught at both country and Sydney metropolitan secondary schools.

Jennifer Michalski

Jennifer has worked extensively in independent and government schools in a variety of positions. Most recently she was at St Spyridon College where she was responsible for the academic care and welfare of students in Years 10, 11 and 12 and for the curriculum of Years 7–12. Jennifer's teaching area is Visual Arts.

Denise Wright

Denise has 30 years teaching experience in secondary English and History in country NSW. Most recently she was Deputy Principal for seven years at Kooringal High School in Wagga Wagga, working extensively in the curriculum area of school.

Lindy Billing, BOSLO Riverina

Lindy has returned to the BOSLO role after working as the Curriculum Coordinator at Kildare Catholic College since 2003. Lindy is an experienced school executive and English/History teacher and has taught at a wide range of government and Catholic secondary schools in regional NSW. Lindy is based in Wagga Wagga.

Meredith How, BOSLO North West

Meredith has taught a range of HSIE subjects, specialising in Geography, Legal Studies and Business Services. Previously the Deputy Principal of Barraba Central School, Meredith has held a variety of leadership positions in schools and has also been an HSC Marker for Geography. She is based in Tamworth.

Edwina McCoy, BOSLO North Coast

Edwina has extensive experience as a teacher and Head Teacher of English in country NSW. Previously Head Teacher, English at Macksville High School, Coffs Harbour Senior College and Nambucca Heads High School, Edwina was the HSC Supervisor of English Marking at Coffs Harbour for many years. She is based in Coffs Harbour.

Alanah Miszuk, BOSLO Western

Before her appointment as Western BOSLO, Alanah was Head Teacher of Welfare and Aboriginal Students at Cowra High School. She has also been a Head Teacher of Administration and a Head Teacher of History. Alanah taught History, Society and Culture and Aboriginal Studies in a number of country and metropolitan secondary schools and is an experienced examiner in Ancient History. She is based in Bathurst.

Cheryl Russell, BOSLO South Coast

Cheryl has a teaching background in Economics and Geography and possesses vast experience as a school executive member, in particular in the area of Teaching and Learning. She has worked as a BOSLO previously in the Metropolitan and South Coast regions and returns to the Board of Studies role from John Edmondson HS where she provided leadership in the establishment of the HSC in a new school. Cheryl is based in Wollongong.

Ian West, BOSLO Hunter

Ian was previously employed by the Department of Education at Lambton High School as Head Teacher Information Technology. He has had experience teaching in diverse regions of NSW and in the TAFE and university sectors. He has been a chief examiner and a member of examination and syllabus committees.
