All completed Preliminary courses are shown on a student's Record of Achievement. To satisfactorily complete a course students must:
- follow the course developed or endorsed by the Board
- apply themselves with diligence and sustained effort
- achieve some or all of the course outcomes.
Students must complete a minimum of 12 units (most courses equal 2 units) to satisfy the requirements of the Preliminary HSC.
English is the only compulsory subject in the Preliminary study pattern.
- Towards the HSC
-
The Preliminary component of a course must be satisfactorily completed before commencing the HSC component. The majority of students complete the Preliminary component in Year 11. Preliminary courses may be accumulated but there is no time limit associated with their completion. Students may return to complete their Higher School Certificate programs at any time once they have satisfied Preliminary course requirements.
