Abbotsleigh
Carolyn began studying the piano when she was four and the violin when she was six. She completed Music 2 and Music Extension at Abbotsleigh and won first place in the open age String Sonata section of the Performing Arts Challenge in 2002. She has attained her LMusA in violin and currently studies with Alex Todicescu. Carolyn started lessons on the erhu, a two-stringed bowed Chinese instrument, with Chen Xue Bing in 2001, and has played in an ensemble for Chinese opera. She hopes to be able to continue her studies in both the violin and the erhu. Her performance for ENCORE is a traditional Chinese piece on the erhu that depicts a cheery scene from a rice-field harvest. She is accompanied by Julia Brimo on piano.
