Sophia Cassimatis

Music has been an important part of Sophia’s life from the age of five. Since 1996 she has studied violin under Sophie Rowell at the Australian Institute of Music and has attained her AMusA. She also plays oboe. Sophia has played in a host of ensembles including the Sydney Youth Philharmonic, with which she toured Tasmania as concertmaster in 2001, and the Sydney Youth Orchestra, with which she will tour Italy in 2004. She has recently been accepted into the Australian Youth Orchestra, which will also tour Europe this year. Her composition Caprice was inspired by her study of chamber works of the past 25 years. Sophia performs with Jacqui Cronin (viola), Emmanuel Cassimatis (oboe) and Adam McKenzi (cello).
