Cassandra Freeman
MLC School Burwood
Cassandra began learning violin at six but at fifteen took up the viola instead and will sit her AMusA this year. She has been an enthusiastic participant in school orchestras, chamber orchestras and several chamber quartets. With these ensembles she has toured to Italy and performed at the Sydney Opera House, Town Hall and the Entertainment Centre. In 2002, her ensemble achieved first place in the ensemble section of the Ryde Eisteddfod. After studying Arts at university, Cassandra plans a career as an educator, writer or historian, but she won’t be putting down her viola. Cassandra’s composition was inspired in particular by Argentinean composers and the tango form of music. The members of the trio performing her work are Giselle Kenny (cello), Kerri Ma (double bass) and Melanie Seeto (violin).
