Marcello Maio

Marcello plays both piano and piano accordion and has attained 8th and 6th grade respectively with these instruments through the AMEB. Since 1993 he has competed at the annual National Accordion Championships and has gained first place in the pop/jazz and best solo performance sections for the past three years. He has also enjoyed competition success as a pianist playing with his school band, having received an outstanding performance award at the 2001 and 2003 Yamaha Music Festivals. Marcello enjoys regular professional work on the club circuit, as an accompanist and as a session musician. He is studying Jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and aspires to be an innovative performer and composer. He is joined in performance by Deva Permana (drums) and John Maddox (double bass).
