First introduced to jazz improvisation at the age of ten in the junior band, Paul has been playing saxophone since he was eight, and began tuition on the baritone saxophone when he was eleven. He has been involved in improvised music idioms ever since. His septet performed very successfully in the 2001 and 2002 McDonald’s Performing Arts Challenge, with Paul being commended for his ‘mature improvisational ability’. His quartet ‘Spawamava’ currently plays professional gigs around Sydney. Paul hopes to continue with a career in music or music technology.
