Christopher Ironside
Normanhurst Boys High School
Chris began playing the alto saxophone at eight and took up the tenor and baritone saxophone during his early high school years. He was introduced to professional performing when he formed a jazz ensemble at fourteen, and also played in the Arts Unit Jazz Orchestra, which received third place in the National Stage Band Awards. He is a member of the Pan Pacific Jazz Orchestra that toured New Zealand with John Morrison in 2004, and also performed with the Schools Spectacular Stage Band (2003, 2004). Although he is mainly influenced by jazz and improvisation, Chris has also branched into rock and ska and is a member of the band Mancower. He hopes to study Physiotherapy whilst continuing to teach and perform gigs. Chris is joined in performance by Alex Boneham (upright bass), Glenn Seddon (piano) and Leigh Stammers (Drums).
