Anna Jones

- The Peacock Dress
- Richmond River High School
- Inspired by peacocks, Anna designed a black wool crepe backless evening
gown. The gown features satin appliquê, machine embroidery and cording
to show a direct reference to peacocks.
Aasha Campbell

- Savannah Sunset
- Heritage Christian School
- The wall hanging designed by Aasha presents a
sunset inspired by the Savannah as the background for the giraffe silhouette.
She has used patchwork that has been embellished with machine embroidery
to achieve her desired look.
Lisa Field

- Postcards
- Heathcote High School
- Lisa has made a five-panelled wall hanging inspired
by Australian postcards. Each "postcard" represents aspects of the Australian
bush landscape.
Kate Fitzgerald

- Lucci' care'
- St George Girls High School
- Kate's blue silk dress portrays human destruction
of the environment. Kate's dress reflects the ocean and the earth enabling
her to depict a fundamental issue of human destruction of the earth
Phillipa Barnfield

- Heart and Sole
- Terrigal High School
- Heart and sole is a bed runner which incorporates
Phillipa's love of shoes, although love is an understatement as it is
more like an obsession. The furnishing bed runner also allowed her to
express her interest in New York, showing the city from morning through
to night using shoes to highlight these changes.
Jessica Goldstein

- Japanese Fairy Costume
- Riverside Girls High
- Jessica's choice for her Japanese fairy costume
is a pink and cream dress. It features lace wings which are supported
by a metal plate and felted slippers.
Nicola Nossal

- The story of Sadako
- Hornsby Girls High School
- Nicola's work reflects the emotions evoked by
the remembrance of the Hiroshima bombing in 1945, in particular Sadako,
a young girl who as a result developed Leukaemia. Sadako resolves to
fold one thousand paper cranes so that she can live her next life happy
and healthy. The work reflects the ideas of peace and hope and a remembrance
of those who lost their lives in World War ll, through reflection of
Japanese culture.
Kiran Toor

- Golden Temple
- Grafton High School
- Kiran's idea to recreate the Golden Temple as
a Textile Art piece first evolved three years ago after visiting the
Majestic and Spiritual temple. Kiran's imagination and self-expression
helped her to create the image of the Sikh temple.
Rosemary Gosper

- Dance of the Paparazzi
- Lambton High School
- "A tutu and tiara set that explores the
perverse nature of the tabloid media through stylised images" is the
thought behind Rosemary's inspiration for her Textile Art piece. It combines
traditional decoration and form with digital media to convey conceptual
meaning.
Ebony Barber

- Train, Bustle Mini Dress
- Nambucca Heads High School
- Ebony used the inspiration of the 1860's but
added a contemporary twist. The mini dress with six overlapping ruffles
is completed with a detachable bustle and a scooped neckline incorporating
a row of organza hand made roses.
Morgan Griffin

- Desert Dweller
- Camden Haven Distance Education
Attends St Paul College Kempsy
- Morgan's desert dweller dress features the machine
embroidered lizard made from Shibori dyed silk that sits on the shoulder
with its life size tail travelling down the back of the dress. Her desert
theme is finished off with a hemline of Sturt Desert Peas.
Alyssa Morgan

- Conch
- Maitland Grossmann High School
- "Shells are lovely natural objects, they
are more often than just baubles on beaches…" A conch shell inspired
Alyssa's design. She wanted to capture the unique qualities of the shell,
particularly the contrast between its smooth and textural surface.
Her work is a contemporary interpretation of a unique natural object.
Tima Nagata

- Highly Flammable
- Elderslie High School
- Fire has been the inspiration of Tima's costume
of a headpiece, skirt, bustle and corset. The felted corset depicts the
flames. The skirt has been printed and combined with the distinctive
black bustle. The flowered headpiece completes the costume.
Benita de Wit

- Addressing the Man
- North Sydney Girls High School
- The blue ensemble designed by Benita, is cut
on the bias with an irregular hemline. The dress features a quote sewn on
the front with Celtic knot work and a corded quilting design on the back.
The ensemble includes a purple knitted Mohair belt and blue/green tights
sprayed with a web finish.
