Importing files from OASIS into Motorised Markbook v6.0
Download & unpack the Report
After downloading the file (above), you will need to unpack it to a formatted floppy disk. The files have been packed as a self extracting archive using Winzip. To unpack the files simply double click the OASIS.exe file, a requester will appear asking you to select the location for unpacking. By default it will look for A: drive. Importantly, don't put the files in a folder, they must be in the floppy root directory for the OASIS system to recognise the Report.
Installing the OASIS Report:
-
From your OASIS terminal select RUN Report (or you can choose to Retrieve and Save the Report as a permanent USER Report which will be stored on your Server),
-
Select <S> for Source, and select A or B drive depending where you put the floppy disk.
-
OASIS will display one Report to choose from - select it.
-
You will be asked for the Academic Year eg enter 10 for year 10, press enter.
-
Next you will be asked for the Subject Code eg ENG for English. Make sure you have the code correct, as an incorrect entry will produce an empty list.
-
Choose <D> to display to screen the Report results to check that you have the right list of students.
-
Choose <E> to export the list.
-
Choose <T> for a Tab Delimited file format.
-
You will now be prompted for a file name and path eg A:\YR10.txt
That completes the process for getting all the students in Year
10 English. You would run the Report again to get more lists for
different subjects.
Importing an OASIS File
The next step is to IMPORT the list into Motorised Markbook as one
big class and ROLLOVER CLASSES into separate class groups.
-
Open Motorised Markbook
-
From the SPECIAL Menu select, IMPORT OASIS FILE.
-
Locate the file you should have on floppy disk in drive A and open it.
-
A message will appear prompting you the operation was successful.
-
From the File Menu select ROLLOVER Classes, select the OASIS IMPORT class, select Roll Class as the Column to spit the list on.
If you click on the VIEW menu you should see a list of all the classes
that have been formed. You can rename these as you see fit and add
a teacher name in the second class name field as well. Save your
markbook. The process is now finished.
