Board of Studies NSW – NSW Institute of Teachers’ endorsed provider of Institute Registered professional development for the maintenance of accreditation at Highly Accomplished Teacher/Professional Accomplishment.

Scope of Endorsement:

  • Standards 3, 5, 6 and Descriptor 7.4.3 of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers at the level of Highly Accomplished Teacher.
  • Elements 3, 6 and Standard 7.3.4 of the NSW Professional Teaching Standards at the level of Professional Accomplishment.

BOSTES will present a range of professional development workshops in Term 4, 2014.

These workshops are registered professional development courses. Completion of a workshop will contribute nominated hours towards registered professional development depending on the duration of the workshop.

BOSTES New and Aspiring Executive Workshop

This workshop is targeting staff who have taken on leadership positions in the school and have responsibility for the management of curriculum: syllabus, programming, assessment and reporting, for example a Head teacher or KLA Coordinator role. It has been developed primarily for executive in administrative or curriculum roles; however, teachers aspiring to these roles may also find it helpful.

The workshop will highlight the policies and procedures required by the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards NSW.

Completing this course will be acknowledged with three hours of accreditation. This program will address the following standards:

Australian Professional Standards for Teachers: 5.1.3, 5.4.3, 5.5.3, 6.2.3, 6.3.3, 7.4.3

BOSTES Information Workshop

This workshop focuses on BOSTES processes for the assessing and credentialling for students in Years 10, 11 and 12.

Topics will include:

  • Curriculum requirements for RoSA, Preliminary, HSC and ATAR
  • Grading and Assessment, including HSC Moderations
  • ‘N’ Determinations
  • Disability Provisions
  • Illness/Misadventure
  • Students with Special Education Needs

Completing this course will be acknowledged with six hours of accreditation. This program will address the following standards:

HSC Visual Arts Practical Marking Development Day

This event is designed for teachers of HSC Visual Arts. It provides an opportunity to learn about the marking process on location at the marking centre. Senior markers will discuss the marking criteria and give advice on monitoring students’ bodies of work. Participants will be able to view and talk about the benchmark works.

Completing this course will be acknowledged with 4 hours of accreditation.

Senior markers will discuss the marking criteria and give advice on monitoring students’ music compositions. Participants will be able to view, listen to and discuss the benchmark works.

Completing this course will be acknowledged with 3.5 hours of accreditation.
