Description of activity

Answer the following in an extended response:

Discuss the centrality of sacred texts (the Torah) to Judaism as a living religious tradition.

In your response you should discuss/include the:

  • foundations of Judaism
  • principal beliefs of Judaism
  • sacred texts of Judaism
  • ethical understanding and practice in Judaism
  • expressions within Judaism where appropriate
  • nature of Judaism as a living religious tradition.

Context

The students have studied Judaism as one of the major religious traditions. In their study they have investigated Judaism’s origins, principal beliefs, sacred texts and writings, core ethical teachings and observance. The study explores Judaism as a living religious system providing relevance and importance to the daily lives of adherents.
