Illness/Misadventure Appeals
Appeals due to illness or misadventure at the time of the 2007 School Certificate tests
The Office of the Board of Studies’ School Certificate Illness/Misadventure Appeal program has been established to assist students who:
- are prevented from attending a test due to illness or misadventure; or
- consider that their performance in a test has been affected by illness or misadventure immediately prior to or the during the test period.
If either or both of these situations apply to you, then you should complete this form. However, if your difficulties in sitting for the School Certificate tests are the result of any of the reasons listed below, then your circumstances fall outside the guidelines of the Board of Studies Illness/Misadventure Appeal Program.
You cannot submit an appeal on the basis of:
- attendance at a sporting or cultural event, or family holiday
- alleged deficiencies in tuition or long-term matters relating to loss of preparation time
- long-term illness
- the same grounds for which the Board has already granted special test provisions, unless further difficulties are experienced during the test
- matters avoidable by the student.
The authority of the Board of Studies is limited to matters pertaining to the conduct and presentation of the School Certificate tests. Consequently, students may only appeal to the Board in relation to circumstances that occur immediately before or during the School Certificate test period and affect their performance in the test session.
