Information regarding the HSC examinations in Languages CCAFL Continuers from 2013

Applies to the Continuers courses in Armenian, Croatian, Dutch, Filipino, Hindi, Hungarian, Khmer, Macedonian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Serbian, Swedish, Tamil, Turkish and Ukrainian languages.

A decision made by the Board of Studies in December 2011 has resulted in changes to CCAFL Continuers HSC examinations in 2013 and beyond.

In the Languages CCAFL Continuers HSC examinations in 2013 and beyond:

  • the written examination will be 2 hours and 30 minutes plus 10 minutes reading time
  • Section I: Listening and responding will be worth 30 marks. There will be three questions in both Parts A and B. Each part will be worth 15 marks.
  • Section II: Reading and responding will be worth 25 marks. There will be two questions in Part A worth 10 marks. Part B will be worth 15 marks.
  • Section III: Writing will be worth 20 marks.

Questions in the 2013 Languages CCAFL Continuers HSC written examinations will contain the same range of item types as in the past. The objectives, outcomes and content of this course have not changed. Working through past HSC examinations would be a valuable part of a student's preparation program for the 2013 HSC examination in this course. The nature, format and particular emphasis of questions may change from year to year. It is important that students read and respond to the questions in examinations rather than prepare a response to a preconceived idea of what the question will entail.

More details about the examinations, and information about assessment components and weightings are in Assessment and Reporting in Languages CCAFL Continuers Stage 6 (PDF).
