Registration and monitoring
The registration process for monitoring the government schooling system is designed to use the NSW Department of Education’s (the Department) existing assurance processes. This minimises the compliance burden on the Department and government schools.
The Department is required to report on its compliance assurance processes and the outcomes of those processes to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). Requirements are set out in the Framework for NSW Department of Education System Reporting.
NESA’s monitoring and the advice it provides to the Minister and the Secretary is supplemented by information gathered directly by NESA. This information includes findings from NESA’s program of inspecting schools selected randomly.
NESA and the Department continue to consult on the registration process, the source and nature of documentation necessary to demonstrate policy implementation, and compliance with the requirements.
