Personal Development, Health and Physical Education Life Skills Stage 6 Syllabus (2007)

The Stage 6 Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) Life Skills course focuses on the development of the values, attitudes, knowledge, understanding and skills to enable students to lead safe, healthy, active and productive lives. The course emphasises effective management of a range of personal health issues that are important in daily life. The course will help students to engage in a range of leisure activities that will enhance their post-school life as well as providing students with experiences and information to enable them to engage in outdoor activities as a participant or spectator.

The new Health and Movement Science Life Skills 11–12 Syllabus (2023) is to be taught from 2025.

Year 12 school-based assessment in 2024

In recognition of continuing school disruption, NESA has extended the 2023 flexibility for school-based assessment rules to Year 12 students undertaking the HSC in 2024. These changes affect the published Assessment and Reporting requirements. Please ensure you follow the school-based assessment advice for the 2024 HSC.

Syllabus

About Life Skills

All students are entitled to participate in and progress through the curriculum. Life Skills courses provide course options for students with intellectual disability or imputed intellectual disability in Years 11–12 who cannot access related general education courses. Students with disability can access syllabus outcomes and content in a range of ways, including through a range of adjustments to teaching, learning and assessment activities. Decisions regarding curriculum options should be made in the context of collaborative curriculum planning.
