1995 Higher School Certificate Results at a glance

Of the 60 181 students entered for the 1995 HSC:

  • 54 895 will be awarded the Higher School Certificate
  • 50 025 will be eligible for a TER
  • 59 817 will be eligible for an award for one or more courses or for a special program of study.

13 students received a TER of 100: nine female students and four male students.

  • the overall top student is Ms Sally Yue of Abbotsleigh, Wahroonga.
  • six of the students are from government schools and seven from non-government schools.
  • these students topped the state in the following courses: 3 Unit Chinese (Background Speakers), 2 Unit English, 3 Unit Economics, 3 Unit French, 3 Unit German, 2 Unit Japanese, 3 Unit Latin and 4 Unit Science.

The 'Average' TER was 54.05 for female students and 46.15 for male students.

30 198 government school students (14 003 males, 16 195 females) were eligible for a TER.

18 582 non-government school students (8947 males, 9635 females) were eligible for a TER.

1234 TAFE students (625 males, 609 females) were eligible for a TER.

11 self-tuition students (four males, seven females) were eligible for a TER.

An HSC Enquiry Centre will be available to assist students with enquiries about their HSC results. It will operate on the toll-free 13 11 12 number. As part of this service, the Board will be providing a facility for enquiries by parents of non-English speaking backgrounds, with special telephone lines to cater for Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese speakers.

Order of Merit lists including the top 5000 candidates in the State by TER, and the top 10 students by course and by Region (TER and course) will be released by the Board on Tuesday January 9, 1996.

Students will receive the preliminary round of offers of University places by post on January 11, 1996. The notification of the main round of offers to applicants and publication in the press will occur on January 24, 1996.
