Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content of the prescribed texts, their cultural, historical and religious references, and the focus areas set for study. Demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of the literary qualities and stylistic features of the literature being read. Demonstrates understanding of scansion of dactylic hexameter by accurate marking of all syllables, the main caesura, elision and feet. Recognises grammatical forms and demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of their function. Presents a translation into English of unprepared passages of original Latin prose and verse which is clear and generally idiomatic, reflecting the meaning of the original.
