HSC advice just a phone call away
8 October 2007
As the State's Year 12 students count down to the start of the written Higher School Certificate examinations, assistance will be just a phone call away with the opening of the 2007 HSC Advice Line this afternoon.
NSW Minister for Education and Training, John Della Bosca, said the telephone service was one of many support services available to HSC students to help them make the most of their remaining study time.
“The written HSC exams begin on 18 October with Industrial Technology and languages, and exams in English courses start on 19 October,” Mr Della Bosca said.
“HSC students have been working hard for two years to get to this point. Many will be feeling quietly confident while others may need some reassurance.
“The HSC Advice Line opens today at 4.00pm and will provide support in 26 courses by experienced teachers after school and on weekends in the lead up to, and during the exams.
“The Iemma Government wants to ensure students are well equipped and have access to as much support as necessary during this challenging time,” he said.
“Students can be reassured that any last minute assistance they might need to prepare for their exams is just a phone call away.
“The Advice Line along with past HSC papers and other Board of Studies resources may be just what students need to finalise their preparations,” he said.
“NSW students have always achieved outstanding results. I’m confident with the support of their teachers, parents and schools that students completing their HSC this year will do exceptionally well,” he added.
The HSC Advice Line number 13 11 12 will open at 4pm today (Monday 8 October) and close at 10pm on Thursday 8 November. Students from anywhere in NSW can access the Advice Line for a flat rate of 25 cents per call (land lines only).
